Child Disability Payment (CDP) - Scotland

How to claim Child Disability Payment in Scotland

About CDP

Child Disability Payment (CDP) is Scotland's version of DLA, administered by Social Security Scotland. It provides the same care and mobility components with identical rates.

Key differences from DLA:

  • Application process designed to be simpler and more supportive
  • Can continue until age 18 or 19 if in full-time education (if awarded before 16)
  • Transitions automatically to Adult Disability Payment at 16+
  • No requirement to reapply if moving from DLA to CDP within UK

How to Apply

Three ways to apply:

  1. Online: Via mygov.scot account (recommended)
  2. Phone: 0800 182 2222 (Social Security Scotland)
  3. Paper: Download form from mygov.scot

Social Security Scotland aims for more personal support. You can request help with your application, including home visits if needed.
